The Italian campaign made exceptional demands on heavy transport: narrow hairpin bends, bridges with a limited load capacity, rivers in flood and muddy valleys. Even so, tanks were carried on semi-trailers whenever the terrain allowed it, because tracks lasted only a limited number of kilometers on a hard roadway and every move saved meant more combat-ready machines. Alongside the British transport units, Polish crews also drove in Italy: the Polish formations fighting on the Italian front were armed and equipped the British way, so on the same type of combination you will meet both British and Polish markings.
The vehicles of the Italian front are typified by a layer of dried dust, which shifts the paint toward gray. Apply the markings before you start on the patina, then, and let some of them be partly covered by the dust afterward: an insignia that looks fresh on an otherwise clogged vehicle comes across as unnatural. On the large surfaces of the cab it pays to polish the surface smooth beforehand.
The set holds the markings alone; a model of the combination and paints are not in the package.
