Decals in 1:35 scale from Star Decals: the M47 Patton in Yugoslavia, Croatia and with the Bosnian ABiH. Markings of the tanks in the Balkans in war and in peace.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from the Star Decals brand in 1:35 scale devoted to the M47 Patton tank. According to the name it covers its service in Yugoslavia and further with the Croatian forces and with the Bosnian ABiH, that is the period of peace and of the conflict that followed. The set holds printed markings for a finished model, not a kit.
The M47 was an American medium tank from the start of the 1950s, a transitional type between the wartime Pershings and the later M48. In American service it did not stay long, but it spread across the world in large numbers under military aid and in a number of countries served for decades afterward. Yugoslavia was among its users and the machines stayed in the inventory even at the moment when the federation began to break up. During the conflicts of the 1990s the M47 thus appeared on several sides at once, with different maintenance, different coats of paint and a different way of marking. For a modeler it is an unusual combination, because the same type of vehicle looks different every time according to its attachment, including improvised modifications and painted-over insignia.
The turret of the M47 has a markedly rounded shape and markings easily wrinkle on it. Seat them onto a smooth gloss base and keep checking whether a decal follows the curve without folds. Apply the softener in thin layers and let it work; do not push on a decal while it is soft. At the end lock the whole model in with a matte varnish. The procedure the manufacturer recommends is on the packaging.
