The 1:35 Mercedes-Benz 170 V from Master Box is a kit of the German passenger car that was commonly used in staff service during the war. The subject is the four-door Tourenwagen of 1937 to 1940.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the civilian passenger car that armies took over in quantity for staff and liaison duties. The set came out as the manufacturer's hundredth kit in this scale, and the treatment matches that: the car is not molded as a closed shell but has an engine and a suspension made of their own parts. Besides the gray plastic, the package holds clear parts for the glazing and tires of a soft material.
The 170 V type belonged to the W136 range, with which Mercedes-Benz leaned from the mid-1930s on four-cylinder engines and a more affordable price. The car was built from 1935 and after the war the make returned to it, which made it one of the most widespread German automobiles of its time. The Tourenwagen variant modeled here is the open four-door type of 1937 to 1940, that is the rendition that appeared in rear-area columns and in front of headquarters.
It pays to start with the chassis and the engine, because those are exactly what is visible through the open body. Fit the glazing right at the end and attach it with a glue for clear parts that does not fog them. The painted surface of an automobile wants a smooth base and a thin coat; a clear overcoat is then enough for the gloss. Weathering should be restrained on a staff car, as fine dust on the fenders and the underside matches reality better than rust.
The package holds parts on injection-molded sprues; the gluing, the sanding and the spraying remain up to the modeler.
