Mantis Miniatures 1:35 Polish Armed Forces, armored personnel carrier crew is an unpainted resin figure for dioramas with modern equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Mantis Miniatures, representing a member of the crew of a wheeled armored personnel carrier of the Polish armed forces. It is supplied as an unpainted casting intended to be cleaned up, assembled and painted. It is not a kit of a vehicle or a finished collector's model; the figure is an addition that gives a diorama life.
A resin casting allows finer and sharper modeling than is attainable in injection plastic. The folds of the field uniform, the straps of the load-carrying system, the pockets and the small items of equipment all stand out, exactly the elements that carry the whole impression of a figure once a wash and a dry brush have been applied. The pose is worked out so that the figure fits the vehicle, whether in a hatch, beside the hull or in a scene with the crew outside the machine. The gear matches the present-day Polish army, which makes the figure a suitable addition to models of modern wheeled equipment.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and remove the mold release residue; without that the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and do not break them off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate, and strengthen the joints with a pin of thin wire if need be. Lay on a thin coat of primer before painting. Build the camouflage pattern of the uniform from the darkest base to the lighter patches and finally highlight the edges; build the flesh with glazes rather than one covering coat. A final wash in the folds and a light dry brush give the figure depth even at the distance from which a model is viewed.
The figure is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted resin casting. Glue, paints and a model of the vehicle are not included in the package.
