Heavily damaged masonry for a combat scene

Heavy damage is quite a different category from a few hairline cracks. Here pieces of masonry are already missing, the top is disturbed and the covering collapses inward above the broken place. A nearby explosion or a burst into the wall from close range leaves such a state, certainly not long years without upkeep, and the scene takes on an entirely different sense by it.

The casting copies the footprint of the other walls in this range, that is one hundred twenty-five millimeters wide and sixty-five millimeters high. The basic build is common to them: a brick panel, two pillars and a tile of semicircular section on top. The difference is in the degree of destruction, which here is the greatest of all the degrees offered.

How to get the most out of it

It pays to add rubble under the wall from grit and fine sand and to let a few whole tiles fall to the ground. Inside the fissures a lighter tone of freshly bared material works well against the weathered surrounding surface, because the contrast gives away at once that the damage is fresh and not decades old.

The strongest degree of destruction goes well with an open view into the space behind the wall. Through the breached place more can be seen, which can be used to let the viewer glimpse something that would otherwise stay hidden, say the outline of equipment or a figure in the second plane. The wall thereby stops being a background and becomes a frame.

The base layer is already applied, so the first spraying falls away. The work is shortened by one whole step and the shades of the bricks can be started straight away. The scale matches 1:35 and the part is intended for setting into a scene of your own.
