Sand armor for the DUKW 1:35 is a resin accessory from PANZER ART for models of the American amphibious truck DUKW.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail set, not a model. It contains castings of sandbags shaped for the hull and the sides of the amphibious vehicle DUKW. Crews added protection against shrapnel and small arms in this way. The castings capture the realistic sagging and folds of the packed bags.
The DUKW (nicknamed the Duck) was an American six-wheeled amphibious truck derived from the GMC truck. It served to carry troops and supplies from ships straight onto the shore during the landing operations of the Second World War, and it proved itself from the Mediterranean to Normandy and in the Pacific as well.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut the casting blocks away and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The bags stand out with sand shades and a dry brush; salt and dust effects underline the vehicle's use in a coastal setting.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
