This is an add-on set in 1:35 scale for the kit of the T-55A medium tank in the Mod.1981 version. The set belongs to the maker's accessory line and is cut directly for its own kit of the same tank, so the parts sit on particular plastic components without improvisation. It is not a model of the tank or a substitute for one - the kit has to be owned or bought separately. The heart of the set lies in thin metal parts that cannot be made in a matching thickness in plastic.
The T-55 is one of the most widespread medium tanks of the second half of the twentieth century, and both its production and its upgrading went on for decades. Compared with the earlier form, the T-55A version brought changes mainly in crew protection and in the internal layout; the Mod.1981 designation refers to a later production standard with further changes to the external equipment. It is precisely the external features - fenders, grilles, brackets, lifting eyes, baskets and tank holders - that come out needlessly thick in plastic and are the first things to be corrected on a model.
Separate the metal parts with a scalpel or photo-etch shears and make the bends in a bender or between blades. Glue the degreased metal with cyanoacrylate glue in tiny drops and work in order from the inside outward, so that you do not break the finished parts while handling them. A primer comes before painting. On a tank it pays to give attention to the running gear and the fenders before washes and pigments go on the model - mud and dust effects look convincing exactly in the places where there are fine metal grilles and lifting eyes.
This is an add-on set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
