A set of figures cast in resin in 1:35 from the PANZER ART brand. It is not a vehicle kit but an add-on that gives a model scale and a story. From a modeling point of view winter clothing is a different job from summer: the layering of a jacket, trousers and gloves changes the silhouette of a figure, the fabric is coarser and the folds are broader and softer. Resin holds those transitions sharp, so once painted it shows where one layer ends and the next begins.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent disappears — paint does not hold on a greasy surface. Separate the casting block with a saw leaving a margin and sand the remainder down; do not breathe in resin dust, and sand wet or with a respirator. Before gluing, check how a figure settles into the place you want to seat it, and adjust the face if need be. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and the gel version gives time to line the arms and the head up. Then apply a primer.
Set the individual layers apart by tone as well as by texture: an outer jacket tends to be a touch lighter and coarser than the trousers, and fur and knitwear are handled differently from smooth fabric. Lay the base down in a continuous tone and model the volume with glazes — darker into the folds, lighter stippled onto the raised places. In a winter scene a cooler shade of the shadows comes in handy, suggesting the ambient light off the snow. Paint the skin separately and leave the face and the hands warmer, so that they stand out against the subdued clothing. Finish the whole set with a matte clear coat; if you are setting the figures into a snow scene, add fine remains of white pigment on the boots and the lower hems of the trousers.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The vehicle, paints, glue and a base are not included in the package.
