A set of replacement machine gun barrels for the model of the American B-24D Liberator bomber in 1:72 scale. It is made by Quickboost, the accessory line of the Czech company Aires. According to the available information the parts are cast from resin. It is neither a kit nor an aircraft model: it is a detailing accessory with which you replace the original plastic barrels from the box. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
The Liberator was generously armed for defense, with machine guns in powered turrets and in the waist positions, so several barrels are visible on a model at once. Injection-molded plastic, however, has its limits on such a small part: the barrel tends to be thicker than it should be, and its muzzle is solid. A resin casting manages a thinner diameter and a hollowed muzzle, which is visible at first glance even in the small 1:72 scale. It is one of those improvements that takes little effort and visibly raises the level of a finished model.
For modelers who build the Liberator in 1:72 and want to take the detail of the defensive armament beyond the level of the plastic in the box. Working with resin calls for a little practice and patience, but with a part of this kind it is a manageable improvement even for a moderately advanced builder.
