The characters represent American soldiers of the period of the war in Vietnam in the tropical field uniform, caught in a quiet moment with a can. For diorama builders it is a practical set: seated and crouching poses fill the space beside a vehicle, by a trench and on open ground, and they give a scene an everyday, civilian tone that contrasts with the usual combat groupings. The photo-etched parts make thin features possible that cannot be cast in resin, typically the small utensils for eating.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces wet with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; for the photo-etched parts use the thin variety and dose it with a wire. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the uniform from a base tone through shading to lightened edges; with seated figures it pays to try the fit dry beforehand. Paint the small accessories separately and glue them in only at the end: once they are in the hand of a figure you will hardly get at them with a brush. Even the surface out with a matte varnish and leave the metal areas semi-gloss.
