The figure 1:35 US modern tank crew N°3 comes from the numbered line of contemporary crews. It is a single figure cast in modeling resin; the box holds the figure, not the armored vehicle you will stand it beside. The number three in the name refers to the order within the line, so it can be combined with the other pieces into a full crew.
A tank on its own in a display case has nothing to measure its size against. The moment a crewman appears out of a hatch, the viewer judges the real dimensions of the machine at once and his eye slides to the face, that is to the place where you want the attention. The figure also sets the direction of the story: from where it is looking, the viewer imagines what is going on beyond the frame of the scene.
Crews are almost always seated into a particular opening, so try the figure dry first in the place it is to belong. The lower face usually has to be leveled or the seating in the hatch adjusted slightly. Remove the casting remains with a sharp scalpel, fill the joints with putty and sand them over. Choose a muted base tone for the uniform, brighten the raised places and let the shadows run into the folds. Bring out the metal fittings and the webbing only at the end, so that they do not disappear.
