This item is not a kit, but a photo-etched detail set for a model of the German StuG IV assault gun in 1:35 scale. Thin sheet metal makes it possible to produce parts whose real thickness is a fraction of a millimeter in this scale: the Schürzen and their hangers, the grilles, the fenders, the tool clamps, the lifting eyes and the brackets. The set is a basic one in scope, so it concentrates on the main external details of the late production version.
The StuG IV came out of combining the proven assault gun superstructure with the chassis of the Panzer IV tank, which was more readily available at the time. The vehicle carried a long-barreled 7.5 cm gun in a low casemate without a rotating turret and served both to support the infantry and to defend against tanks. Late production vehicles are marked by simplified manufacturing methods and reworked details, and some of them also carried applied concrete additional armor on the front. It was produced from the end of 1943 until the close of the war.
In metal the Schürzen will take a realistic bend and a suggestion of missing pieces, which gives the model life at once. Cut the parts off with a sharp scalpel, make the folds in a photo-etch bender and glue them with the smallest possible amount of cyanoacrylate. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a metal primer. Late German vehicles suit a roughly applied camouflage, a wash in the recesses, scuffed areas around the hatches and dust pigments on the fenders and the running gear.
