Aires resin wheel bays for the Saab J-29B and J-29F Tunnan in 1:48 scale replace the shallow bays from the kit with a detailed casting complete with inner structure. It is an accessory for a plastic kit, not an aircraft model.

The set is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory meant to be built into a plastic kit of the Saab J 29 Tunnan in 1:48 scale. Because of the shape of the molds, injection-molded plastic tends to leave the wheel bays shallow and smooth, whereas on the real aircraft this is a densely broken-up space with ribs, runs and units. The resin casting from Aires replaces that space with a finely detailed insert that is clearly visible once the model is finished.
The Saab 29 Tunnan was a Swedish single-engine jet fighter with a swept wing, brought into service at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. The engine, built under license in Sweden as the RM 2, was derived from the British de Havilland Ghost. The J 29B version was the fighter and attack variant with greater fuel capacity and pylons, while the later J 29F had an afterburner and a modified wing leading edge. The short, broadly spread fuselage gave the type the nickname Tunnan, meaning the barrel, and it also governed the layout of the nose landing gear.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove any traces of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the face by sanding wet with respiratory protection. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue. The bays are fitted before the fuselage and the wing are joined, so dry-fit them and thin the surrounding plastic as needed. Painting is easier before installation: the base shade with an airbrush, a dark wash into the recesses and a light touch of dry brushing on the edges. Mask the finished bays before spraying the model further.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
