A 1:350 wooden deck for the battleship Markgraf (Artwox Model) is an adhesive veneer overlay with pre-printed plank laying that gives the deck of the model a real wooden texture. The overlay is cut to the outline of the decks of the ICM S.005 kit.

An accessory for modelers who already have the matching kit. The package holds a thin wood veneer with a pre-printed pattern of deck planks and an adhesive layer on the back; it is glued straight onto the plastic deck part. The cuts are made to suit the ICM S.005 kit, so check before you buy that you have that release.
The decks of large warships from the beginning of the twentieth century are wide and almost perfectly symmetrical, which is both an advantage and a trap when gluing veneer. An advantage because you can take your bearings from the centerline and from the openings for the barbettes. A trap because even a slight rotation of the piece shows immediately on the finished model, as the planks stop running parallel with the hull. So settle the piece along the centerline, press the central strip down first and only then work out to the sides. A dry fit before the film comes off is compulsory here: check whether the cutouts line up against the barbettes and the bases of the superstructure.
Once it is glued down, go around the edges with a sharp knife and remove the overhangs, running the cut right along the edge of the plastic. The natural shade of the veneer looks convincing on models of this era, but many modelers choose a slight darkening with wood stain so that the deck does not contrast too sharply with the dark paint of the hull. A thin application of matte varnish seals the surface and prepares it for any weathering: a thinned wash run into the seams between the planks draws the laying out and the model suddenly looks finished.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
