A 1:350 wooden deck for the German destroyer Z-38 (Artwox Model) is an adhesive veneer with pre-printed planks, cut for the narrow decks and intricate superstructure of a destroyer. It is intended for the Dragon 1049 kit.

An aftermarket accessory, not a kit. The thin wood veneer with a pre-printed pattern of planks has an adhesive layer on the back and is glued onto the plastic deck of your model. The set is cut for the Dragon 1049 kit, so please check that this is the one you have.
On large battleships the deck is one big area and veneer is laid on it fairly comfortably. A destroyer is the opposite: a narrow hull, long slender strips of wood and a dense row of superstructure, turrets, winches and torpedo tubes to go around. The pieces therefore tend to be delicate and break easily if you take hold of them roughly. It pays to handle them with flat-jawed tweezers, carry them on the tip of a knife and never stretch them over an edge. With narrow strips a dry fit matters even more than elsewhere: once the veneer sticks off the axis, there is nowhere to retreat to.
Level the plastic deck, clear it of flash and degrease it. Pull the film off the adhesive layer centimeter by centimeter and press each section down at once. Trim the overhangs around the superstructure with a sharp blade run along the edge of the plastic; in tight spots it helps to sink the tip in and cut in short strokes toward yourself. The wood can be left natural or toned slightly, and matte varnish then seals the surface. Restrained weathering works well on a small ship too: too strong a wash would look muddy on so small a deck area.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
