Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the protected cruiser Ching Yuen of the Imperial Chinese Beiyang Fleet in 1:350 scale from Bronco. It is a carefully worked-out model with fine surface detail; besides the plastic parts the box contains photo-etched parts and good decals. The model therefore offers a solid basis for a detailed build of an unusual and historically interesting subject.
Ching Yuen was a protected cruiser built at the British yard in Elswick by Armstrong Whitworth, a sister ship of the cruiser Chih Yuen. These so-called Elswick cruisers were fast export vessels intended for the Chinese Beiyang Fleet. Ching Yuen took part in the Battle of the Yalu River in 1894 during the First Sino-Japanese War, where she was sunk. The real subject represents a remarkable chapter of Asian naval history of the late 19th century.
Glue the plastic with liquid cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. The hull can be built complete on the stand. Lay down a primer before the color coats and apply the paints with an airbrush; period Victorian ships tended to have a contrasting scheme of hull and superstructures. Pick the panel lines out with a dark line and bring the sides to life with restrained weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
