An injection-molded plastic model of the Japanese battleship Yamato in 1:350 scale from the Tamiya brand. It is a large and detailed model of the hull with its superstructures, the main-caliber gun turrets, the secondary armament and the deck equipment. Thanks to the size of the 1:350 scale it is a striking model, suited rather to more experienced builders.
Yamato was the flagship battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy and, together with her sister ship Musashi, the largest and heaviest battleship ever built. Her main armament consisted of nine 460 mm guns, the largest naval guns in history, housed in three gun turrets. The ship was deployed in the Pacific war and was sunk in 1945 on her voyage toward Okinawa.
Decide in advance whether you will build the ship with the full hull on a stand or as a waterline model. Glue the hull and the extensive decks with modeling cement for plastic and bring out the deck planking and the details with shading. It pays to assemble and paint the gun turrets and the secondary armament separately. Bond the fine accessories, such as photo-etched railings and ladders, with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); use the stand to display the model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
