About product

Eduard 1:350 Mikasa - detail set

This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a ship model. The set brings fine brass parts for sharpening up a model of the Japanese pre-dreadnought battleship Mikasa in 1:350 scale: railings, ladders, ship's boats, fine deck equipment and other elements that replace coarser plastic castings. The model itself, glue and paints are not included.

The real subject

The Mikasa was a Japanese pre-dreadnought battleship and the flagship of Admiral Togo at the Battle of Tsushima in 1905 during the Russo-Japanese War. She is preserved to this day as a museum ship and ranks among the most significant vessels of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Use and tips

  • Separate the parts with a sharp knife at the fret and shape the bends with a bending tool.
  • Assemble the small fittings piece by piece for accuracy.
  • Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) in a small amount.
  • Degrease the brass before painting and spray it with primer.

Who the set is for

  • For builders of the Mikasa model in 1:350 scale.
  • For more advanced modelers working with photo-etched sets.

The accessory does not contain the model, glue or paints.
