An accessory from Decalcas for building a model of the BMW M8 GTE in 1:24 scale. According to the title the masks come ready shaped and serve to get paint onto the window frames without bleeding onto the clear surface. Neither the model of the car nor the paints are in the package.
The GTE class rests on the idea that a racing car must be derived from a road coupe and at the same time survive many hours of running in one go. For it BMW built the M8 GTE, with which it toured endurance events on both sides of the Atlantic from 2018. On a car like that the glazing plays a practical role: the crew changes over in the dark and in the rain, and visibility and the legibility of the race numbers matter. On a model, therefore, the transition between the frame and the clear surface is one of the first places the eye falls on.
Hold the clear part by its edge and rid it of fingerprints before you start. Seat the mask so that it beds down around its whole circumference; the slightest gap will show up as a ragged edge. Apply the paint thinly and rather several times over, letting it set between coats. Once the mask is off, let the surface dry out without touching it again, and only then fit the part into the body.
The set is an accessory for the build; the kit of the car has to be obtained separately.
