A set of bonnet pins in the type 2 pattern. It is not a kit but a small accessory: according to the manufacturer the package holds twelve pieces, and Decalcas lists the set for 1:24 and 1:20 scale, so it will stretch over more than one model. The pattern number matters more here than with other accessories — the range offers several types of pin and each one looks different.
On competition and circuit cars the original locks on the hood and the trunk lid are replaced by quick-release pins: they hold the panel reliably even under vibration and let it be lifted off without a tool, which in the pits is counted in seconds. On a model it is a detail anyone spots at once — without it the hood of a competition car looks like a production one. Alongside the type 2 pattern the range also has type 1 in two size versions, and further lever fasteners and Dzus quick-release fasteners. They are not interchangeable, so compare the pattern against a photograph of the machine you are building.
Mark the positions of the pins on the hood first and pre-drill them with a pin vise — the spacing shows in the result more than the part itself does. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, a drop at a time. Lay down a primer before painting; then paint the heads with a brush, because on the real cars they tend to be a different color so that they are easy to find.
