A set of parts made by vacuum forming for a model of the Ducati 1199 Panigale S motorcycle in 1:12 scale. Vacuum forming is a process in which a heated plastic sheet is drawn onto a mold, so that a part with a very thin wall is created, the kind that cannot be made by injection molding. That is exactly why screens, covers and thin-walled surfaces are made this way, where the thickness of the material shows on a model.
Vacuum-formed parts are cut out of the sheet, not cut off a sprue. Trace the outline with a fine marker, cut it roughly with scissors and sand the rest down on abrasive paper laid on a flat surface until the part fits. Work in small steps and check often, because you can always take material away but never add it. They are bonded with super glue, but be careful with clear parts, as the fumes leave a white haze, so use the gel variant and the minimum of glue. Paint clear parts only from the outside and mask them carefully.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
