Lucky Red from Number Five is the signal red from the white and red liveries of circuit teams.
Responsibility details are not available.
A saturated signal red from the part of the line that names its shades after the sponsors of circuit stables. It aims at the red component of the white and red liveries of the kind worn in the world championship of road racing motorcycles as well as in Formula 1.
Number Five builds the names of a large part of its range on the brands that paid racing teams in the 1980s and 1990s: Bastos, Camel, Rothmans or Gauloises. The name Lucky belongs to the same group and points to liveries built on a white ground with a bold red circular emblem. That recipe held on the factory machines of the class up to five hundred cubic centimeters and later on Formula 1 cars with a white and red division of the body too. The whole livery rests on contrast, so the cleaner the red, the better the emblem works on the white surface. Models of these machines are moreover built in the large scales, where every inaccuracy of tone is visible.
For modelers of motorcycles and formula cars who put a livery together from the individual colors instead of a decal across a whole surface. It suits as well where a decal ends and the paint has to follow on from it without a visible dividing line. The circular emblem lies exactly in the middle of a fairing and its legibility at a distance stands or falls with the saturation of the red.
