Replacement pitot tubes and DUAS system sensors for models of the Mi-24 Hind helicopter in 1:72 scale, worked out for the Zvezda and Eduard kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-24 Hind is a Soviet attack helicopter with an armored cockpit, stub wings for external stores and a rear compartment for carrying troops. On the nose it has an array of thin tubes and sensors of the external air data system; these are items that fill out the silhouette of the machine markedly.
In 1:72 scale an injection mold runs into its limits precisely on the thinnest shapes. The tubes from the kit tend to be several times thicker than the subject would call for, and they break when the surrounding seams are sanded. The replacement parts have a slender section and sharp transitions, so the model gains an accurate nose without further shaping. The set is worked out for Mi-24 kits by Zvezda and Eduard in this scale; the contents of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set will be appreciated by builders in the smaller scale who do not want to leave a coarse plastic molding on the nose of an otherwise carefully built Mi-24. Working with parts this small is impossible without tweezers and a sharp blade. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
