This variant of the deck set for the American battleship in 1:400 scale is toned to blue. From the version in the natural shade it differs precisely in color; otherwise it is a comparable accessory intended for the same base model. The manufacturer makes both versions alongside each other. The decision between them is purely a question of taste and of how the finished piece is meant to come across in a display case. The outline of the parts corresponds to the decks of the Academy 14401 kit.
Missouri belongs to the quartet of vessels of the Iowa class, that is to the fastest battleships the United States ever built. The main armament consisted of nine guns of 406 millimeters in three turrets. The ship was stricken from active service only in 1992 and is the only one of her class to have taken part in conflicts separated by several decades. Such a long career is utterly exceptional among armored vessels.
A darker tone is rewarding, but it will show fingerprints mercilessly, so work with clean hands or in gloves. Try the layout dry beforehand. Light railings and anchor equipment stand out nicely against a dark base, so it pays to paint them only after the covering has been laid. Before that, check that the base has not stayed greasy from your hands anywhere.
