This is not a kit, but an aid to painting. The set holds cut masks for covering the glazing of a model of the AH-1Q and AH-1S attack helicopter in 1:48 scale, in a double-sided version, that is for both the outer and the inner side of the clear parts. Masking the inside always makes sense when the shade of the frames is sprayed into the cockpit: without it the paint prints through to the inside and it shows when you look through the canopy. A single-sided variant of the same set is a separate item, if covering only the outer side is enough for you. The target kit is Special Hobby.
Wash and degrease the clear part first, otherwise the masks hold less well. Separate the individual pieces with a sharp knife or with tweezers, lay them on and press them down along the edges so that paint does not run underneath. Spray in thin coats, the interior shade first, then the primer and the outer color. A thick coat leaves an ugly ridge at the edge of the mask.
Take the masks off when the paint has dried to the touch, because once it has cured completely the edge tears more often. Pull them back at a sharp angle rather than straight off the surface. Wipe any adhesive residue off with a cotton swab moistened in warm water and polish the clear part at the end. The set is cut for one particular kit in 1:48 scale; on another model the shape of the frames may not match.
