A decal sheet in 1:48 aimed at the Bell UH-1 helicopter in air ambulance form from the period of the Vietnam War, designated as part one. It is neither a kit nor a finished model: the decals are applied to an already built and painted model of the matching type and scale.
The Bell UH-1 was a single-engine utility helicopter that became the defining means of transport for American forces in Southeast Asia. Its hallmarks are a two-blade main rotor, a roomy cabin with sliding side doors and skid landing gear. Air ambulance machines derived from this type served to evacuate the wounded quickly from the point of injury to field hospitals; their markings combined the usual military lettering with medical symbols and tended to be a striking identifying feature.
Varnish the model with gloss so that no air gets trapped under the carrier film. Soak the decal for a few seconds in lukewarm water, let it rest on the paper and transfer it onto a dampened surface. On rounded surfaces and over engraved lines, use a decal softener. Once it has dried completely, varnish the whole model with a matte or semi-gloss coat. Do not rush the coats of varnish: a damp film wrinkles easily.
