An injection-molded plastic model of the American Brewster B-339 Buffalo fighter in 1:48 scale from the Japanese company Tamiya (kit number 61094). The Pacific Theater boxing holds parts for RAF, Dutch ML-KNIL and American machines, plus two bombs and a standing and a seated pilot figure. The model is built from injection-molded plastic; photo-etched parts and masks are not included.
The Brewster Buffalo was designed as a carrier fighter for the US Navy (F2A). The export B-339 variant received an approved Wright Cyclone engine of about 1100 hp and was adapted for land use, with the arrestor hook and naval equipment deleted. These machines defended British and Dutch possessions in Malaya, Singapore and Java during the Second World War. In the Pacific theater the Buffalo met more capable Japanese fighters, and it is one of the typical aircraft of the early Pacific war.
Work with liquid cement for plastic and dry-fit the bulky fuselage with its radial engine before gluing. Prepare your own tape for masking the canopy glazing. Pacific machines suit an airbrush, a good primer base and a gentle panel line accent with a wash. Assemble and paint the radial engine and the landing gear bay before closing the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
