A detail set from the Polish company MASTER for the model of the Curtiss P-40E fighter in 1:48 scale. It contains a gunsight, a Pitot tube and the blast tubes of the .50 caliber machine guns together with an adapter that seats the set into the Eduard kit. It is exactly that adapter that sets it apart from the similar set by the same maker intended generally for the P-40E to P-40N versions, so which kit you are building is the deciding factor when choosing.
The P-40E was the version of the American Warhawk fighter with armament of .50 caliber machine guns in the wing. Three inconspicuous but telling elements show on its external appearance: the short blast tubes of the protruding barrels in the leading edge, the Pitot tube under the wing and the gunsight in the cockpit, which is clearly visible through the glazing.
The metal blast tubes have open mouths, so there is no need to drill six holes with a micro drill, which usually leaves the plastic ragged. Fit the gunsight before closing the cockpit and check at once how it sits against the windscreen. Fit the adapter dry, verify the depth of its seating in the wing and only then fix the joint with thin super glue. Degrease the metal with alcohol, apply a primer for metal and rather just tone or blue the blast tubes than paint them over with a heavy coat - that would flood the bore. We recommend gluing the Pitot tube at the very end, after unmasking and painting.
This is an accessory for further improving a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
