This set from Aires holds resin airbrakes for Lockheed F-104 Starfighter models in 1:48 scale. It lets you show the airbrakes in the deployed position together with faithfully detailed wells.
Deployed airbrakes liven up the outline of the aircraft on the ground or in the landing configuration. The resin castings carry the detail of the inner wells and of the mechanism that is lost in closed plastic. To use them you have to cut out the matching panels on the fuselage of the base kit.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue, carefully cut off the casting blocks and lightly sand the cut faces. They are glued with cyanoacrylate (super glue) only; cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Sanding resin creates dust that is harmful to health, so work with respiratory protection.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package.
