An accessory set of exhaust nozzles in the closed position for the F-14A Tomcat model in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-14A Tomcat is a twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The diameter and shape of its exhaust nozzles differ according to the state in which the machine was captured, and on a finished model this is one of the first details a viewer notices.
The set replaces the exhaust nozzles of the model in 1:48 scale with a version in the closed position, that is with the petals drawn in. The manufacturer makes the open variant and a variant with both positions separately, so you can choose according to the subject you are building.
The parts are not polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder flat so that the glued surface sits without a gap. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly. Dry-fit the rear of the fuselage before gluing and even out any play by sanding, so that the nozzles follow the outline of the fuselage. The preparation procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set suits modelers who are building an F-14A parked or taxiing with the nozzles drawn in and want to work this part of the model beyond the kit. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
