A set of painting masks from the New Ware brand for a model of the carrier-based Grumman F-14B Tomcat fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or add-on parts for a model but a masking set: the masks are applied to the surfaces that are to stay free of paint while spraying, and are taken off afterwards. By its name the masks are cut from kabuki tape, that is, paper masking tape, which holds its shape well, follows curves and leaves a clean edge when removed. The suffix EXPERT marks the level of the range of the set within the manufacturer's offering.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing, that is, a machine that adjusted the sweep of its wing in flight according to speed. The F-14B version came about by re-engining the original type with General Electric F110 engines, which markedly improved thrust and removed the problems the first series had struggled with.
