A kit of the Grumman F-14D Super Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale, the last production version of the famous machine with a variable-geometry wing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with a variable-geometry wing. The F-14D Super Tomcat version was the last production form: it received a pair of F110 turbofan engines, digital avionics and a twin sensor pod under the nose. It stayed in Navy service until 2006, when the type disappeared from carrier decks for good.
The Tomcat is rewarding for a modeler precisely because of the wing: depending on the sweep setting, the finished model looks different every time, from the spread position at launch from the deck to fully swept wings in supersonic flight. So decide in advance which position you want to build the model in, because the work on the wing glove fairings follows from it. The cockpit is rewarding too: a two-man crew sits in it and it is clearly visible under the glazing, so the time spent on the interior comes back.
Proceed in the classic way:
This is a kit and the model is supplied unassembled. Paints, glue and other building materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
