The metal construction gives one of the most visible places on the motorcycle a realistic shine and depth that a plated plastic molding cannot imitate. It is not a stand-alone model but an accessory to the base kit.
The Yamaha YZF-R1M is the top version of the YZF-R1 supersport — a road machine with a liter-class inline four, electronic aids derived from MotoGP and semi-active suspension. It is precisely the front fork with its distinctive coated inner tubes that is one of the recognition features of the real machine, so a faithful rendering of it adds to the impact of a model at once.
Degrease the metal parts before fitting and glue them with cyanoacrylate in small amounts, so that the joints stay clean. Leave the shiny surfaces of the fork unpainted — their natural metal look is the main advantage of the set; match the surrounding parts in gloss black and graphite tones. Use tweezers or cotton gloves when handling them, as fingerprints show up easily on shiny metal.
