About product

Hawker Tempest Mk.II 1:48 (Eduard)

An injection-molded plastic model of the British Hawker Tempest Mk.II fighter in 1:48 scale from the production of the Czech brand Eduard. This is a select edition, which adds colored photo-etched parts and self-adhesive masks to the plastic parts; the decal sheet offers several color schemes. The kit uses a modern mold with fine engraved surface detail and a well worked-out cockpit.

The real subject

The Tempest Mk.II was a development version of the successful Hawker Tempest fighter, which differed from the better known Mk.V version in its powerplant. Instead of the H-24 Napier Sabre it carried the massive radial Bristol Centaurus, which gave it a characteristic rounded nose. The aircraft came about at the end of the Second World War, no longer intervened significantly in the fighting in Europe and served in the postwar years with the Royal Air Force and with other users. It excelled in high speed and performance at low altitude.

Building and painting tips

Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic. Glue the colored photo-etch with cyanoacrylate, and mask the glazing with the enclosed masks. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. Pick out the panel lines with a wash and take care over a clean transition between the camouflage shades.

Who the model is for

  • Modelers with an interest in British fighters of the Second World War
  • Collectors of RAF aircraft in 1:48 scale
  • Builders who will appreciate photo-etch and masks right in the box
  • Anyone interested in radial-engined fighters

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
