The F-16C Fighting Falcon is an American single-seat fighter. The pilot sits under a large bubble canopy with no frame over his head, so the view to the sides and to the rear is exceptional. The seat is markedly reclined and the controls are handled by a side stick on the right, not between the knees. For a model this has one consequence: the cockpit can be seen clear through, and every simplified shape in it shows on the finished piece.
The set replaces the cockpit fittings of an F-16C model in 1:48 scale. Injection-molded plastic has to simplify the shapes in the cockpit so that they can be drawn from the mold; replacement parts are not bound by that limit and therefore carry finer articulation and sharper detail in the place the viewer looks at most often.
The parts are not polystyrene, and ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them; use super glue. Cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down carefully. Dry-fit the parts in the fuselage before gluing and adapt them a little at a time, because replacement cockpit fittings tend to be bulkier than the original ones and otherwise the fuselage halves will not close. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly. The specific preparation procedure for the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set is for modelers who build the F-16C in 1:48 scale with the canopy open and want a well worked cockpit. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
