Photo-etched steel seat belts in 1:48 for the F-4B from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. They replace the plastic or printed belts in the cockpit of a model.

A set of photo-etched seat belts for the cockpit of the F-4B Phantom II model in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but a small detailing accessory. The belts are etched from steel, which is a harder yet at the same time springier material than brass: the part holds its shape better once bent and looks more natural than a belt molded in plastic or printed on a decal. In an open cockpit this is one of the most visible details of all.
The F-4B was the first widely produced carrier-based version of the two-seat supersonic McDonnell Phantom II, used by the US Navy and the Marine Corps from the early 1960s. The crew consisted of a pilot and a weapons systems operator seated one behind the other on ejection seats. The restraint system of such a seat is complex, and without it a cockpit looks empty on a model.
Separate the parts with a scalpel on a hard surface. Steel is stiffer than brass, so bend slowly and preferably over the edge of a ruler. You make the natural sag of a belt by drawing the part lightly over a rounded tool. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue in the smallest possible amount. If the belts are not pre-painted, paint them only after degreasing and priming; a final fine dark wash pulls out the stitching and the buckles.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which is not included in the package. Paints, glue and tools are not supplied. Check the match with your kit before ordering.
