This resin accessory from the Czech manufacturer Eduard replaces the wheels from a plastic kit with more accurate parts for models of the F-4E Phantom II fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model, but an aftermarket set of landing gear wheels.
The replacement wheels offer fine definition of the tire tread and of the hub and brake detail. The tire profile is usually rendered as slightly loaded by the weight of the aircraft, which gives a finished model a realistic stance on its landing gear. The parts are fitted in place of the original plastic wheels.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut off the sprue gates and sand the surfaces down with respiratory protection. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting; the hubs and the tires are then easy to tell apart with shades and a wash.
The set does not contain an aircraft model or paints or glue. It serves as an accessory for a plastic kit.
