STEEL seat belts 1:48 for the F-4J from Eduard - color photo-etched belts of steel that bring the seat in a cockpit to life in a moment.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of the aircraft but a small photo-etched accessory for the cockpit of an F-4J model in 1:48 scale. The STEEL designation means that the belts are etched from steel instead of the usual brass sheet - steel holds its shape better after bending, so a belt can be convincingly draped over the edge of the seat and left to hang freely. The parts are color printed, so painting them falls away. The manufacturer is the Czech company Eduard.
The F-4J is the naval version of the two-seat F-4 Phantom II multirole aircraft, developed for the US Navy. On a model with an open canopy the cockpit of both positions is clearly visible, and empty seats without belts are the first thing an experienced eye notices on a finished model.
Separate the belts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and take the burr off at once with tweezers. Shape them gradually and in small steps - steel takes a bend, but repeated straightening and bending in the same place fatigues it. Try laying the belt on the seat dry first, and only then put a drop of cyanoacrylate glue on the tip of a toothpick. Protect the color print from lacquer thinners and even the surface out at the end with an acrylic matte varnish. Bring both the seat and the belts out with a fine wash, so that the detail does not disappear under the sheen.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check compatibility with your kit before buying.
