A set of the LööK line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for the cockpit of the carrier-borne Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat fighter in its late production guise, 1:48 scale. The LööK line joins a 3D printed instrument panel with pre-painted steel belts; both come painted and replace the matching parts of the kit. The word late in the name is a distinguishing detail: sets for the early guise of the same aircraft are made as well, and these differ in the equipment of the cockpit.
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was an American carrier-borne fighter with a piston radial engine, in action from the beginning of the war in the Pacific. The F4F-3 version had fixed wings with no folding mechanism; the late production batches differed from the early ones in changes to the equipment and in details of the cockpit. In 1:48 scale the model is often built with the sliding canopy open, under which the interior is fully on view.
A painted part cannot be put right by sanding back or spraying over once it is glued, which is why these sets ask for precision. Dose the glue with a pin or a thin wire and only onto the contact surfaces on the back, never onto the printing. Ordinary thin cyanoacrylate releases fumes while curing that can leave a whitish veil on glossy printing and on transparent parts, so it is better to reach for the thicker gel variant or for a glue declared as odorless. The order of work is set: first the cockpit tub is sprayed and left to dry, then the panel and the belts are fitted, and only at the end is the whole interior closed into the fuselage.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
