The Douglas TBD Devastator was an American carrier-borne torpedo bomber that entered service in the second half of the 1930s and was a modern all-metal aircraft for its day. By the beginning of the Second World War, however, it was already obsolete: at the Battle of Midway in 1942 the Devastator squadrons suffered almost total losses attacking the Japanese fleet, which effectively ended their front-line career.
Cut the parts off the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic, and fix the photo-etched details with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint and pick out the rich interior before closing the fuselage, and mask the glazed canopy while spraying. Apply a primer and the colors with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and pick out the panel lines with a wash. The prewar deck colors reward subtle shading.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
