This is an accessory interior set, not a model of the aircraft. It replaces the cockpit from the FB-111 kit in 1:48 scale with a resin casting and, according to the name, it also contains three-dimensional decals for the instruments and the panels. Given the extensive glazing of the cabin, the interior is clearly visible on the finished model, so the difference from the simplified plastic cockpit pays off.
The FB-111 is the bomber version of the F-111 aircraft, with a variable-geometry wing and a crew of two seated side by side. Compared with the fighter bomber versions it had a longer wing and strengthened landing gear because of its higher takeoff weight. The machines went through changes of equipment during their service, and it is precisely the late state of the cabin that this set claims to represent. The interior of the F-111 and its versions is characterized by a wide instrument panel across the whole width of the cabin and by the stations of the pilot and the navigator being set side by side.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and remove any mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, then sand the mating surfaces flat so that the cockpit seats in the fuselage; sand wet and with respiratory protection, and do not inhale resin dust. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue. Apply a primer before painting, and paint and fit the interior before you close the fuselage up. With three-dimensional decals it holds that they differ from classic wet ones and their application is governed by the instructions in the package; a softener as a rule has no business there. Try the seating dry beforehand.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
