This decal set in 1:48 scale from Xtradecal offers a broad collection of markings for the Grumman Wildcat carrier fighter in the F4F-4, FM-1 and British Mk.V versions. These are classic wet (waterslide) decals, and they cover aircraft of both the US and the British navies. The set makes it possible to build the aircraft in several different operational schemes.
Apply the decals over a smooth gloss varnish, which prevents silvering. Dip the parts briefly in lukewarm water and slide them into place. Settle the transitions with a decal softener and, once dry, seal the model with matte or satin varnish according to the character of the subject. Carrier aircraft tend to be heavily worn, which can be brought out with weathering.
