1:35 WWII British Paratroops In Action

The real subject

The British airborne units were formed during the Second World War as light infantry carried to the battlefield by parachute and by glider. The soldiers differed from ordinary infantry at a glance: they wore a short camouflage smock over their equipment and a rimless helmet that did not get in the way during a jump. That is exactly why they are such a rewarding subject for figure modelers; the silhouette of a paratrooper is recognizable even in 1:35 scale, and on a diorama the viewer spots it before finishing the caption.

What the set contains

The set brings figures in 1:35 scale in poses matching combat activity, as the words in action suggest: the figures are captured in movement, not in a static stance. The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted, they go together from several parts and are joined with an ordinary modeling glue.

Building and painting tips

First clean up the parting seams with a fine file or a scraper and dry-fit the figures, so that you can see how the individual figures work together on a base. Plan the layout before you reach for the paints. Painting goes from the bottom up, that is the equipment and the uniform first and only then the faces and the hands, which are worth shading with glazes and leaving until the end. The small items of airborne equipment will take a shade of their own, otherwise the whole figure merges into a single flat area.

Who it is for

The set is for modelers who build dioramas of the European battlefield, and for anyone who wants to add a crew or an escort to a finished vehicle and give it a sense of scale. The figures are supplied on their own. A vehicle, a base, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
