A resin set of ground equipment for modelers who build a piece of the airfield along with the aircraft. The starter cart is one of the most frequently seen pieces of equipment around jet machines and in a diorama it immediately shows that the aircraft is not merely a static exhibit but a machine being prepared. This is not a kit of an airplane but a separate accessory for the apron.
The GTC-85 is a wheeled unit with a small gas turbine. Its job is to deliver the compressed air that spins up the compressor of a jet engine during starting, and to supply the aircraft systems with electricity at the same time. That is also where the nickname huffer comes from, a word ground crews use for starter carts in general. The unit sits on a simple frame with wheels and a tow bar for a tractor, with a control panel, an intake, an exhaust and a hose ending in a coupling that is plugged into the fuselage of the aircraft. It was used by ground units and aboard aircraft carriers alike.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a knife or a saw and sand the surfaces - do not breathe in the resin dust, sand wet and ventilate. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and a primer goes on before painting. Honest wear suits ground equipment: a base shade, a stronger wash into the corners of the frame, metal rubs on the edges and traces of oil and fuel around the couplings and caps. The hose can be added from soft wire wrapped in adhesive tape or from the insulation of a cable. Place the cart beside the aircraft so that the hose can realistically reach it, and give the wheels a slightly flattened contact patch on the surface.
This is an accessory set, not a model of an airplane. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
