Ten heads of female figures for 1:48 are supplied by the Firma49 brand in one package. Half of the pieces have a modeled hairstyle, half are without one, and no two have the same expression. They are made by printing from resin, which holds the fine features around the mouth and the nose even on such a small part.
The 1:48 scale belongs mainly to aircraft, so these heads will find use in scenes on an airfield: the reporting post, the sick bay, a farewell by the machine before takeoff. They can serve with vehicles and simple vignettes as well, where a single figure stands in for a whole story. The same line comes out in a larger and in a smaller size too, so the handwriting of the figures stays consistent across projects under way.
On a part the size of a grain of rice there is no sense in drawing the eyes in detail. A darker glaze run into the eye sockets and a lighter tone left on the raised places is more convincing. Apply the base as thinly as possible, ideally by spraying, so that the relief is not lost.
