A resin, 3D-printed replacement wheel set in 1:48 scale for the American carrier fighters Grumman F6F Hellcat and Vought F4U Corsair. The tires are faithfully flattened at the contact patch, as if the weight of the aircraft were resting on them, which gives the model a realistic stance on the ground. The parts match variant 3 of the tread and rim. It is an accessory to a plastic model, not a whole aircraft.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat and the Vought F4U Corsair were among the most successful American carrier fighters of the Second World War in the Pacific. Both rugged machines with a powerful radial engine carried the main weight of the fighting against Japanese aviation. Flattened wheels with the tread pressed into the ground are a small but conspicuous element that makes a standing model more convincing.
Separate the parts carefully from the print supports and clean them up; protect your airways when sanding. They are bonded with super glue. When gluing, make sure the flattened part of the tire sits correctly on the base. Spray the tires a flat blackish gray, do the rims separately and add a fine dust with pigments.
The detail set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue, paints and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
