Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Soviet fighter biplane I-153. Metal takes the place of the spots where a plastic part necessarily comes out thicker than the real thing, that is thin sheet, small levers, buckles and fine cockpit equipment. On a biplane it shows more than elsewhere, because the machine is small and open and the viewer gets close to it.
The I-153 was the last development branch of the Soviet Polikarpov biplane fighters. It got the nickname Chaika, that is gull, from the upper wing cranked into the shape of a shallow letter, which improved the pilot's view forward and upward. The retractable landing gear was unusual too, a rare thing on biplanes. In its day it was an agile machine, but the age of the monoplane quickly left it behind.
Work over a flat surface with raised edges, as a small part springs away and you will not find it in the carpet. Separate the parts with a sharp blade, make the bends over the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool and dose the glue with the tip of a toothpick, because any excess is far harder to remove from metal than from plastic. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer coat, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling. Metal takes a soft curve and keeps its shape, which is worth using everywhere a part is to represent fabric or a loosely running strap.
The package contains photo-etched metal parts. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included unless stated otherwise.
