Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Mitsubishi A5M4 carrier fighter (Type 96, Allied code name Claude) in 1:48 scale from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds. The kit stands out for its fine detail: several panels are shaped to suggest the grain of the metal skin, the cockpit has well worked-out frame detail and the radial engine is broken down including the pushrods. Check the exact contents of the package and the markings against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The A5M was the first all-metal carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, with a low-wing layout and fixed landing gear. It entered service in 1937 and immediately took part in the fighting at the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War. It was exceptionally agile and became the predecessor of the famous A6M Zero. The A5M4 version had an open cockpit and could carry a drop tank under the fuselage for a longer range.
Cut the fine parts off and clean them up carefully. An open cockpit means the interior will be visible, so paint it and pick out its detail carefully before closing up the fuselage. Assemble the fixed landing gear with its wheel spats precisely. Japanese prewar and early war aircraft usually wore a light natural or gray finish; after the gloss clear coat and the decals, pick out the lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
