Aires 1:48 J 29 Tunnan, wheels and paint masks is a resin detail set, not a kit. It replaces the wheels of a model of the Swedish jet aircraft and adds masks for painting them.

This is an accessory from the Czech manufacturer Aires, not an aircraft model. The set brings together two things that go together in practice: precisely cast resin wheels and paint masks meant to let the boundary between hub and tire be sprayed with a sharp edge. Compared with the plastic parts from a kit, resin wheels tend to be more faithful in the tread pattern and in the relief of the hub, and they often have a suggested flattening of the tire under load, thanks to which the model does not stand on its base as if on balloons. The number of parts and the extent of the masks are stated on the packaging of the set.
The Saab J 29, nicknamed Tunnan, meaning the barrel, was a Swedish single-engine jet fighter of the end of the 1940s. It was among the first European production machines with a swept wing, and its characteristically bulky fuselage, which gave the type its nickname, was the consequence of a layout with a nose air intake led around the cockpit to the engine at the rear. The aircraft came about in several versions, among others fighter, reconnaissance and attack, and served with the Swedish Air Force through the 1950s and 1960s. Several machines were deployed on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Congo, which was the only combat use of this type.
Wash the wheels in warm water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the cut; on a flattened tire take care that the contact face stays flat and perpendicular to the axis. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting. The painting sequence is easier backward: first spray the hub, let it dry, fit the mask and only then spray the tire, because the dark shade of the rubber covers any overspray more easily. Rubber is never black; reach for a very dark gray, which you then dust lightly with pigment. Before gluing, check that the two wheels are in line, so that the model stands level on its base.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a standalone model. It is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
