The masking templates 1:48 Ki-21 Ia Sally Canopy Mask are for the glazing of the early series of the Japanese bomber Mitsubishi Ki-21. Meant for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The early series differs from the later ones in details of the defensive positions, and that carries over into the shape of the glazing as well. Templates cut for the Ia version are therefore not interchangeable with the set for the following series: the difference is small, but in masking it shows up as a piece that does not seat exactly into the frame and a blurred paint edge. The target kit is ICM.
The Ki-21 was created to a requirement for a heavy bomber with a long range and first flew in the middle of the 1930s. The first production series operated over China, where they had the upper hand over the air defenses of the day and their crews got used to flying almost without escort. That experience turned around in 1941, when the same machines ran into modern fighters. The early examples differ from the later ones in the shaping of the fuselage spine as well, which is worth watching during the build.
Builders of the early version of the Ki-21 who object to a soft edge between the glass and the frame. Count on the plastic parts of the bomber being a separate item. It also makes sense when you are planning a model with a reduced sheen, where every transition reads clearly.
